Captain Tom of Bedford on the brink of two more milestones on eve of 100th birthday

As NHS hero Captain Tom Moore prepares for his 100th birthday tomorrow, he could have a few more reasons to celebrate.

The Marston Moretaine war veteran's Just Giving page is just shy of a staggering £30million - AND the Change.org page to get the NHS hero knighted has attracted almost 1,000,000 signatures.

Bedford Today first revealed Captain Tom's challenge to raise cash for the NHS by walking 100 laps of his garden before his 100th birthday.

Despite only expecting to raise £1,000, his story caught the public's imagination - attracting TV coverage - and the rest his history.
