With a week off school on the horizon, Bedford Borough Council is urging parents and carers to stay safe.

Bedford still has the third highest Covid-19 rate in the country and the council is hoping more people will get tested with the free rapid LFD test - or take up the surge testing if you live in Kingsbrook, Cauldwell or Queens Park where the Indian variant is most prevalent.

Cllr Louise Jackson said: “We are not just looking to keep our communities safe during half-term, but for the return to schools to be as safe as possible too.

"The PCR surge tests are open to children and adults, whilst the rapid LFD tests are available for secondary age students and adults. It’s really important that we all play our part, get tested, and take steps to keep ourselves and each other safe.”

The council is also urging people to meet up with friends and family outside if possible.
