A couple from Biddenham joined their street in clapping for the carers last night (Thursday) to show their appreciation for the NHS during the coronavirus pandemic.

Anna and Matteo, clients of Home Instead Bedford, joined hundreds of thousands of people across the country as they put their hands together at 8pm to Clap For Carers.

Britons are being urged to take part in an applause for NHS workers at 8pm every Thursday until the end of the pandemic.

The couple, who have been married for 71 years, live in the annex next to their daughter. Unfortunately, their daughter can not go next door to see them as she just returned from abroad and is self-isolating.

A spokesperson for Home Instead Bedford said: "Anna had a pacemaker fitted last week so she is very thankful for all the NHS staff, doctors, nurses and carers who look after them.

"They live in Biddenham and the whole village was out clapping last night!"
