Bedford school reports four confirmed cases of Covid-19

A school in Bedford has confirmed three members of staff and one student have tested positive for the coronavirus.

Sharnbrook Academy, on the outskirts of Bedford, issued a statement today (Friday, September 25) notifying the public of the situation.

A school spokesperson said: “Three members of staff and a student at the school have tested positive for Covid-19. I am pleased to say that all are recovering well.

"As a result of the positive tests, we instigated our track-and-trace procedures and swiftly identified those who have been in contact with these cases and who are now self-isolating at home as a precautionary measure."

The spokesperson said due to the 'robust' safety measures, which includes creating year group bubbles to avoid cross-contamination, the school has been able to remain open to all other students not affected.

Sharnbrook Academy said it continues to work closely with Public Health England to ensure it is taking all the necessary precautions.
