Bedford and Central Beds: The coronavirus deaths in your neighbourhood revealed

The government has revealed the number of deaths by area for the first time.

De Parys ward in Bedford has been hit hardest by Covid-19 than any other ward in the borough, it has been revealed.

Deaths from Covid-19 deaths in Bedford and the surrounding area have been announced by the Office for National Statistics. They show that Bedford deaths related to coronavirus in the period between March 1 and April 17.

The statistics run up to two weeks ago but take in the peak of the outbreak which is thought to have occurred in early April. This is the first time the figures have been broken down outside of hospital level date. They include deaths in care homes and in the community.
