Official figures show that 11 more cases of coronavirus have been recorded in Bedford.

Public Health England figures show that 501 people had been confirmed as testing positive for Covid-19 by 9am Sunday morning (May 10) in Bedford, up from 490 the same time on Friday. A week before, there were 452 cases.

It means cases have increased by 2 per cent over the weekend, lower than the rate of increase across the UK of 4%.

They were among the 12,201 cases recorded across the East of England, a figure which rose by 345 over the period.

Cumulative case counts include patients who are currently unwell, have recovered and those that have died.

Across the UK, 219,183 people had tested positive for coronavirus as of 9am on Sunday, up from 211,364 at the same point on Friday, Department of Health and Social Care figures show. In total, 1,334,770 people had been tested, and, as of 5pm on Saturday, 31,855 had died.
