Student wins top airline design award

A Dunstable student has scooped top prize in a competitoin to celebrate Monarch Airlines 50th anniversary.

Niah Nekqual aged 19 is currently studying graphic design at Bedford College.

Creative Graphics International (CGI) based in Kempston, asked HND students to come up with ideas for the 50th anniversary in 2018 of Monarch, the airline group, based in Luton.

In second place was Ellia Raja who combines studies with working part-time at Bedford Sixth Form as an art technician. Both students were presented with state of the art professional drawing tablets.

Doug Tait, Head of Creative and Adam Jenkins, Design Manager were thrilled with the ideas and have passed them on to Monarch.

CGI which has its head office in Bedfordshire, ran a similar competition last year and the winner from that Ellie Terrell, is now a second year student. CGI commissioned her to come up with the boundaries of this year’s competition - good work experience for a budding designer looking for work with top name clients.

Jeffrey Tribe, Advanced Practitioner at Bedford College said: “Working with CGI has been a great experience for our students and they have been very generous with prizes and their time supporting both our annual London exhibition (D&AD New Blood), and by offering valuable work experience. To have links with such a successful company is tremendous for our students.”
