Growth bid is in

THE board of South East Midlands Local Enterprise Partnership (SEMLEP), which covers Bedfordshire, Milton Keynes and Aylesbury Vale has chosen to promote a site in Northampton as its preferred site for a tax efficient Enterprise Zone.

Northampton Waterside will create 14,000 jobs and hundreds of new businesses.

Eight Enterprise Zone ideas were submitted for consideration by SEMLEP. This has assisted the board to recognise a number of strategic employment sites.

There are also important sites in Bicester and Luton. The board says it will look at how these proposals can also be supported as part of its business plan.

Brian Hibbert, who chairs the Interim SEMLEP Board said: “The Northampton proposal will bring benefits locally, to SEMLEP and to UK plc.”
