Essential gas mains replacement work is being carried out from Monday, January 20 to replace 200m of ageing gas mains.

It will take place at High Street and Home Close and there will be temporary two-way traffic lights in place from 7am to 7pm during the project which is scheduled to last approximately four weeks.

There will be brief interruptions to the gas supply to properties when engineers disconnect them from the old gas pipes and transfer them to the new gas main.

Engineers will contact those affected customers in advance of this work being carried out. People are reminded they should ask to see official identification from anyone seeking to gain access to their property.

All engineers working for Cadent carry official identification which should be inspected before granting admission to properties for more information visit here to verify an engineer’s identity or call 0345 835 1111 - Option 2

To minimise inconvenience, work will be carried out in short sections to limit the scale of excavations at any one time. And shops and businesses will remain open throughout the project.

Cadent network supervisor Lee MacGibbon said: “Replacing these ageing gas pipes will help ensure the local community keep on enjoying safe and reliable gas supplies into the 22nd century.

“We’ll do all we can to complete our work as soon as possible with minimal disruption to the public.”
