With many retail stores shut as part of the new national lockdown, Bedford Borough Council is urging shoppers to support local businesses by backing BedfordBID’s Remember November Online campaign.

Many Bedford businesses have websites enabling you to order goods direct from them - whether it's cheese, jewellery, socks, beer, braces or books.

Cllr Henry Vann, portfolio holder for town centres and planning, said: “Bedford’s local businesses do an amazing job and I urge everyone to shop local this Christmas - however you can. Bedford has a fantastic mix of independent and national chains and many of them are offering click and collect or delivering locally. This November we’re joining with BedfordBID and local businesses to ask everyone to Remember November Online and shop local.”

Samantha Laycock, chair of BedfordBID, said: “Remember November Online is an opportunity for the people of Bedford borough to support local business and our high street in these increasingly difficult times.

"With Christmas just around the corner, we want to make sure residents know they can still use retailers in the town centre through delivery and click and collect services, despite businesses having to close their doors to customers.

“We would like to send a strong message that although stores may be closed, Bedford borough is still open for business.”
