Apprentice style challenge for Beds businesses

COULD you put your entrepreneurial skills to good use in an Apprentice-style challenge - and help a very worthy cause?

Sue Ryder – St John’s Hospice is throwing down the gauntlet to businesses in the local area to prove they are the ultimate business Big Wig.

Big Wig is Sue Ryder’s corporate challenge which gives you an opportunity to demonstrate your entrepreneurial skills, while raising money for St John’s Hospice.

It is very simple. The charity gives you a crisp £50 and you have four months to turn that money into as much as you can.

The challenge will launch from October 1. At the end of the challenge teams will be invited to an awards night, where gongs will be presented in categories such as Entrepreneur of the Year, Team of the Year and Most Innovative Idea.

You won’t be on your own. Fundraising mentors are being introduced to help teams along the way, as well as some other people to help motivate the teams with ideas and tips.

Could your business benefit from improved employee engagement and staff motivation, increased external profile, an opportunity for cross-business networking and a sense of pride through supporting a well-respected local charity?

Ideas could include things such as a virtual balloon race, a charity ball, human dog race, “I’m a director get me out of here”, sponsored swim, sponsored bike ride, auction of promises, a bonfire night party or a Christmas Fete.

All money raised from the fundraising appeal will help to run Sue Ryder - St John’s Hospice based in Moggerhanger and serving the North and Mid Beds community.

The 15 inpatient bed hospice offers specialist short-term palliative care for patients with life-limiting illnesses including Cancer, Motor Neurone Disease, Multiple Sclerosis, heart, liver and lung failure.
