Woof Stop, a purpose-built dog day care centre, has just opened its doors in Millbrook.

Sitting on a four-acre greenfield site, owners husband and wife Tracey Stevenson and Russell Long have spent nine months building and transforming the centre into a dog-friendly space with capacity for 30 dogs a day.

And dog-gone it, it just couldn't have been made possible without the support of a £50,000 funding package from NatWest.

Once inside Woof Stop, the premises are divided into four zones including activity areas with toys and quiet spaces for sleeping, while the outside space has paddling pools, sandpits and fountains, designed for dogs to play and explore.

The centre offers full day or half day care throughout the week, with a full programme of activities designed to stimulate dogs both physically and mentally.

And just so you owners don't feel ruff about being parted, you'll even be able to watch your pets on webcams around the centre.

Tracey, who has supported two dog rescue centres with the care and placement of abused and abandoned dogs, will run the centre alongside Russell and a team of seven staff, and recruitment is currently under way for an additional employee.

Woof Stop already has 75 dogs registered at the centre and once the business is established in the community, there is the opportunity to expand the business to incorporate boarding too.

Tracey said: “We have owned the greenfield site located between Flitwick and Ampthill for 23 years and thanks to the support from NatWest, we have been able to fulfil our ambition of creating a purpose-built dog day care centre and open a five-star business, caring for dogs in Bedfordshire.”
