Biggleswade Amateur Theatrical Society (BATS) is to perform Much Ado About Nothing at the Weatherly Centre in Eagle Farm Road on Friday June 12 and Saturday June 13.

The new version of the play has been bought about by two members of the group who have put a spin on the original material.

The new version of Much Ado About Nothing is set in a modern-day casino.

The original themes of deception, love and war are still present in the form of gambling and greed.

BATS member Andrew Leftwich said: “Over the last months the group have been working hard to bring something a little different and fresh to our usual audience as well as new spectators who have not seen this play of Shakespeare’s.

“So come and watch our young lovers Claudio and Hero and the love-hate tale of Benedict and Beatrice play out in a series of risky gambles played out for all to see.”

BATS was established in 1984.

It currently has more than 30 active members.

The group is also looking for more people to tread the boards as well as help out behind the scenes on future productions.

Both performances start at 7.30pm.

Tickets for the show cost £10 and can be booked by visiting Howells Newsagents in Hitchin Street or by visiting
