BATS do much with Shakespeare play

With a storming production of The Bard’s Much Ado About Nothing, have BATS found a new home at The Weatherley Centre?, writes Andrew Leftwich.

BATS have come full circle having staged their first production over 30 years ago in The Weatherley. On that occasion we built a full stage with yards of scaffolding; this time a leaner and meaner staging gave a polished and energetic contemporary Shakespearean production. Our young director Sophie Wilson ably assisted by David Broadbent drew an amazing performance from our hardworking cast many of whom were new to Shakespeare, and judging by the audience reactions we hopefully hit the spot.

We are now moving into production of our next piece, an original story written by a BATS member, a fictional story of WW1, grandparents & Biggleswade to be staged on 20th & 21st November at The Weatherley. Why not come along next Monday June 22 to the Methodist hall at the rear of the chapel in Shortmead Street at 8pm where we are holding our first reading of the brand new play?
