Review: 'A Noise Annoys' - well, we rather ENJOYED!
Review of ‘A noise Annoys’ by Jude Simpson at The Place Theatre, Bedford. Well, this show is not just for kids! Though mine loved it, I think I might have loved it more! Full of fun, surprise, interaction and great messages for life, A Noise Annoys really lifted my spirits in a way I wasn’t expecting. With well pitched puns, joyfully chaotic songs and poems that play, I was captivated the whole way through. My 9 year old kept giving me meaningful looks through his laughter so I enjoyed him enjoying it, and getting carried along with Jude’s brilliant energy and lyrical magic.
Highlights for me:
The invitation to get involved.
The puns
The messages:
‘when you’re feeing flummoxed, the best thing to do is sing a song about it!’ – I wholeheartedly agree!
Choose your noise carefully, and your words.
Not all words are in the dictionary!
The simplicity of ‘joyning’ along with a beautiful piece of play
‘We did all those things, then we clapped, and cheered and smiled’.
Playing on words, wording on play, ‘A Noise Annoys’ is great, go and see it today!
It was the first time I'd been to The Place Theatre and what a treat! This delightful, quirky and welcoming venue tucked away in Bedford is a real find. Such a well-equipped venue with a real buzz and feel of exciting theatre energy. Having to walk across the stage to get to our seats was a real highlight for my 7 year old daughter! To me, that made the space both inviting and real. We loved it!
A Noise Annoys played at The Place, Bedford under their "Fantastic for Families" on Thursday 30th October 2025 at 2pm. We received a complimentary press ticket.
