Red Riding Hood

A beautiful-looking but utterly ridiculous film, which is both nonsensical and patronising.

Amanda Seyfried stars as the title character in this updating of the classic fairytale.

She is caught between the affections of two boys, both of whom may be the werewolf who is terrorising her small Black Forest village.

It could be them, it could be anyone – and that’s what Gary Oldman is going to find out.

He’s a famous werewolf hunter and he’s in town to solve the case and save everyone.

The plot is full of cavernous holes, the script is a joke (unintentionally) and it all reeks of trying to cash in on the Twilight phenomenon, which is really not helped by the fact it’s directed by the same director as the first Twilight film. A real misfire.
