It’s ain’t over until the Royal Opera House comes to Hemel Hempstead

The Jarman Park multiplex is one of the cinema centres which have signed up to take part in the Royal Opera House Live season, which opens with a screening of Puccini’s Turandot.

It’s billed as the first is a string of spectacular ballet and opera performances beamed onto the big screen as they are performed live at the famous London venue.

Full of disguised identities, riddles, ritual executions and triumphant love, Turandot tells the story of a princess who has sworn that no man shall marry her unless he can correctly answer three riddles. A prince, captivated by her beauty, then takes up the challenge, determined to win her heart or die in the attempt.

Turandot is best known outside opera circles as the work which features Nessun Dorma, the aria which became the theme tune of the 1990 World Cup in Italy.
