Bands battle it out in Bedford

STUDENTS bands will be strumming their guitars and bashing their drums in a bid to outplay the competition.

Battle of the Student Bands will return to Bedford Corn Exchange for the fifth year running on Friday (July 29).

This year three local acts, Dead Sky, Flip Like Wilson and Quiz Team, will be fighting it out in a bid to be crowned the 2011 winners.

And the audience will be playing a key role in this year’s contest with the newly introduced People’s Choice Award.

The event will be headlined by pop, electro and rock band, Tonight We’re Electric.

The competition will be judged by Rob Butterfield, Ru Lash, Sunset Reset and Amy Leader. The student bands will be playing for the chance to win prizes from Marshall Amplification, Jez Brown, Esquiries, Bedford Corn Exchange and Lost Boys Studio.

The contest will start at 7.30pm in the Civic Theatre.
