The Favourite Aunties are to perform on the acoustic stage at the Rhythms of the World Festival coming to Hitchin Priory.

One of the members, Anita Gabrielle-Tedder, said: “We are absolutely thrilled at this time of our lives to be playing such a wonderful, multicultural event whilst having such a good time.

“There are four Favourite Aunties and we describe ourselves as a mature ‘girl’ band with a shared love of cupcakes. We focus on close vocal harmonies, augmented by acoustic guitar, bass, ukulele and percussion. Our youngest member is in her early 50s.

“We play a mixture of music from originals through to George Ezra, Ed Sheeran, Sex Pistols, Gilbert and Sullivan, Daft Punk, Justin Timberlake, Dolly Parton – anything we enjoy singing, we ‘auntify’.”

The group were formed when Anita, Joanne Hyne, Helen Mundy and Chris Mottram-Wooster attended a song circle evening.

Anita has previously performed in rock bands, most notably The Crew.
