Based on the hit movie, the show is an uplifting musical comedy about friendship, love and the importance of fighting for what is right.

It is set in Essex in 1968 where life is about to change forever for factory worker Rita O’Grady. It’s announced that the women in the stitching room of Ford’s Dagenham car plant will have their pay grade dropped to ‘unskilled’.

Quickly drawing on a strength she never knew she had, Rita leads her friends in a battle against the might of Ford and the union supposed to protect them.

And as the womens’ inspiring efforts get bigger than anyone could have imagined, the pressure is too much for some – putting pressure on Rita to keep up the fight and the happy home she’s worked so hard for.

The show is being staged by the Bedford-based Marianettes Amateur Musical Comedy Society at Trinity Arts and Leisure Theatre, Bromham Road, Bedford from Tuesday March 28 to Saturday April 1.

Performances will take place nightly at 7.30pm.

Tickets cost £14 or £12 for concessions.
