A choir is recruiting new voices to perform at an evening of music and poetry marking the centenary of World War One.
The show, What Then Was War, will feature a piece about the Scottish Seaforth Highlanders, who were stationed in Bedford, written by composer Sophie Viney and Cally Lawrence. It was taken from the poem To The Seaforths, written by a Bedford woman in 1915.
Sophie said: “The poem captures a unique moment in Bedford’s history.
“The words illustrate the highlanders’ memories of homes and their lively stays with their host families in Bedford.”
The event, on November 8, will also feature songs sung by soldiers in the trenches.
