A live masterclass in butchery will be one of the highlights of this weekend’s Bedford Swab Beer and Food Festival.
Star chef Raj Mandal, general manager of Bedford College Services Ltd, will give a live demonstration on Friday, November 9, from 6pm. He will be assisted by the head butcher of Summerhill Farm Shop who were winners of the 2011 Taste Real Food Traditional Sausage Challenge Cup.
Raj said: “Encouraging people to eat and drink quality food, wine and beer is part of our educational master plan at Bedford College.
“We are on a mission to train the best chefs in our hospitality department and to provide the best services through our commercial division. So come along and see the show.”
The Bedford Swan Hotel Beer and Food Festival opens at 5pm on Thursday, November 8, and is open from noon until late on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, with 36 beers all at £3 a pint. There will also be a variety of local food to try - including the biggest banger in Bedfordshire, plus the final of The Taste Real Food Traditional Sausage Challenge Cup will be on Saturday at 6pm.
