The people behind Biggleswade Amateur Theatrical Society (BATS) has said it is the final chance to get tickets for their brand new original show.

Home by Christmas has been written by Andrew Leftwich and Ashley Ogden and is all about the horrors of the Great War.

Home by Christmas is to be performed from Thursday, November 19, to Saturday, November 21, with the entertainment starting at 7.30pm.

It can be seen at the Weatherley Centre, Eagle Farm Road in Biggleswade.

It is inspired by memories and memorabilia kept and recounted by Andrew’s mother of her parents around The Great War.

Although a fictional story, it is about real people who lived and fought on both sidesof the Channel.

The play centres on newly married couple Albert and Alice, torn apart by the start of The Great War.

Within the play – which includes, drama, music and poetry – the group has also added a roll call of honour for both the fallen and returned First World War veterans from Biggleswade.

The play also uses quotes from editions of the Biggleswade Chronicle published during the conflict.

Andrew said: “My aim was to enthuse children to remember their ancestors sacrifices.

“Two local schools were invited to join us as choir members and local brownie packs are helping by creating special memorial poppies.

“At home and away, neither the pair, nor their friends and family are safe from the vagaries of war.

“Come and watch how these families cope with the deal they are dealt.”
