A rock and roll musical with a religious flavour is coming to Milton Keynes Theatre.

Andrew Lloyd Webber’s groundbreaking rock opera Jesus Christ Superstar will be telling the story of the last seven days in the life of Jesus through the eyes of the bad guy Judas Iscariot.

The show features some of musical theatre’s most legendary songs from I Don’t Know How to Love Him, Everything’s Alright, and Gethsemane through to Superstar.

Leading performer Glenn Carter returns as Jesus, a role he has played in the West End, on Broadway and on film.

Talking about his role Glenn said: “It is one of the greatest musicals ever written. I am always looking to challenge myself with any role that I take on. If I find it an exciting challenge then I will do it.

“There is a section towards the end of act one where I am singing constantly for around 18 minutes which is tricky.

“It is also a challenge doing it for eight shows a week since the beginning of the year.

“But people pay an awful lot of money to come and watch a show at the theatre and I will give it my best, whether I am performing a small or a big venue.

“If you want to see a piece of iconic musical theatre then this is the show to see and if it is your first one, then it is a perfect introduction to musicals.

He is joined by Australian star Tim Rogers, a seasoned musical theatre performer, made his UK stage debut 15 years ago and now takes on the mighty role of Judas. X Factor finalist Rachel Adedeji plays Mary Magdalene, joining the company direct from the UK and European tour of Thriller Live.
