Organisers of Ampthill Festival celebrated ‘One Month To Go’ by dressing up in familiar costumes in the town square this week in line with the ‘musicals’ theme for the three day event.

The festival kicks off on Friday, July 4, with the legendary Happy Mondays headlining Amprocks, and fans are being urged to buy their tickets in advance after ‘unprecedented’ demand.

BBC newscaster Gavin Esler and Mid Beds MP Nadine Dorres are among the guests as the inaugural LIterary Festival on Saturday, which is followed by the Proms in the evening in Ampthil Park.

The weekend ends on Sunday, July 6 with the musicals-themed family gala day.

“We’ve now less than a month to go and are gearing up for the biggest and best festival yet, with thousands of people expected to flock to Ampthill,” said festival spokesman Jem Maidment.

“Tickets for Amprocks, the Proms and Literary festival are selling out fast – we urge people to buy them up as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.”

A fundraising wine tasting takes place tomorrow, Friday, at 8pm at Wingfield Club, Tickets cost £10
