Shakespeare retold for young audiences in Bedford by the Globe Theatre

Members of the world-renowned London theatre are staging the double-bill Shakespeare Untold at the Quarry Theatre in St Peter’s Street on Friday May 6.

Written by Harper Ray and Adam Sibbald and based on the plays of William Shakespeare, the show tells stories you know through the characters you probably don’t.

In Romeo Untold, the story of Shakespeare’s star-crossed lovers Romeo and Juliet is retold through the eyes of the Capulet Ball’s party planner.

Titus Untold retells Shakespeare’s goriest tragedy, Titus Andronicus, as seen from the kitchen of Titus’s piemaker.

The shows premiered to great critical and popular acclaim at the Edinburgh Fringe, and are now touring internationally.

The two classics can be seen in just two hours including an interval.

In a five-star review, The Times said: “There is a generally held wisdom that Shakespeare is not for the very young. This completely disproves this idea.”

The show also received a Critics’ Choice award from Metro, which praised it for “bringing a fun twist to Shakespeare”, declaring it “an unforgettable experience for young and old”.

The production is suitable for all ages.

It runs at 4.30pm and 7.30pm. Tickets cost £15 or £12.50 for concessions.
