The man who drew some of the world’s most iconic superheroes is coming to Bedford.
Adi Granov - who has drawn the likes of Iron Man, She-Hulk and Thor for Marvel Comics will appear at the N.I.C.E 2013 comic convention at Bedford Corn Exchange on September 7 and 8.
The Bosnian-born artist, who was the conceptual designer and illustrator on all of the Iron Man films and has recently worked on projects with the rock band Tool, spoke to the Times & Citizen this week.
He said: “The most exciting project I have worked on was the first Iron Man movie. It was very excited for everyone involved because it was the first Marvel series film, it had a real sense of adventure about it.
“I’m good friends with Adam from Tool so I’m doing a bunch of stuff for them. They’ve been my favourite band for about 20 years and it’s definitely one of the coolest things I’ve ever done.”
The N.I.C.E convention has been curated by Bedford’s Jeff Chahal and sponsored by Close Encounters in Midland Road. This is the first time that the event has taken place in the town.
Throughout the weekend there will be over 30 guests from a range of comic book companies including Marvel and DC. Visitors can also have their books signed, and the artists will sketch on the day.
And Adi, who lives in West Yorkshire, said how much he is looking forward to coming to Bedford.
He said: “I’ve been to Bedford before and have done a couple of signings at Close Encounters.
“This convention is always good and is always a chance to see people that we wouldn’t otherwise see.”
