An exceptional collection of art attracting international interest goes up for auction in Bedford on Friday.

The Robert Room at W&H Peacock in Newnham Street, Bedford will be the setting for the fine art sale on Friday, January 3 which is expected to attract bidders from as far afield as New York and Bejing.

W&H Peacock’s expert David Fletcher will be auctioning the art which includes a collection of modern pictures formed by Douglas Wight of Biggleswade.

The most important work is by post impressionist Eduoard Leon Cortes.

David, who regularly appears as an expert on BBC TV’s Flog It, said: “The collection of 40 pictures is spiced with pictures by French artists including Eduoard Leon Cortes (1882 1969), Charles Camoin (1879-1965) and Jean Rigaud (1912-1999) as well as artists as diverse as the Australian Norman Lloyd (1897 – 1985) and the Italian Ulderico Marotto (1890-1967).”

The Robert Room houses regular antique and fine arts sales where prices rival any of those in the country as bidders compete by phone and on the internet.
