Cries of Prost and 'Gut Bier' echoed in celebration of a cultural exchange weekend

Lager, lederhosen and landjager sausages were very much in abundance as the Bamberg Spring Festival came to town.

Cries of "prost" and "gut bier", or cheers and good beer to you and me, echoed around The Harpur Suite as Bedfordians celebrated the cultural exchange at the weekend.

More than 40 beers and wines were available as well as some traditional Bavarian food, as Bedford got a flavour of its twin town of Bamberg.
Entertainment was provided by the Don Bosco Musikanten oompah band and Bedford Corn Exchange staff, fully clad in their own lederhosen, were awarding prizes for the best Bavarian dress.

Today's Vote

Do you support the Unison staff who went on a two-day strike?
Yes, living costs are spiralling and their wages are being left behind.
No, it's important their wage demands are kept in check to keep our tax bills down.
They might have a case but going on strike didn't help their cause.
