Children's reading scheme celebrates its tenth birthday

A children's reading scheme that helps to bring the Bible to life celebrated its tenth birthday at an event held at Brickhill Baptist Church.

The Open The Book project was born in Brickhill, and has since spread to 38 counties.

Bob Hartman, the Canadian author of the Lion Storyteller Bible, joined the celebrations and read to visitors.

Dave Todd, a member of Brickhill Baptist Church who founded the group in 1999, said: "It was a great day. We had a lot of fun and more than 150 people turned up.

"I would also like to say how much I have appreciated the work of many people over the years with the group, including Judith Jeffery and Sonia McLelland."
