Money glad to be out of limelight

Dark horses Luton are sneaking up on the top two in the Blue Square Premier – and manager Richard Money seems quite happy the Hatters are off the radar.

At Monday's press conference he said: "Everyone is talking about a massive game at Stevenage on March 30.

"Let them talk about it. No problem.

"It's only Oxford and Stevenage - that's fine by me. Carry on.

"We are beginning to improve not just results-wise but in the way we are going about it.

"Saturday was a big stepping stone. Tuesday was a massive test of character. The players coming through what they were asked to come through both on and off the pitch was a huge test of character.

"Saturday was a big turning point and a really professional footballing performance."

Belief at Kenilworth Road seems to be mounting off the pitch that the Hatters can still win automatic promotion and Money believes the crowd can play a massive part.

He said: "I really fail to see why people are surprised by that.

"We have been saying it for a long time the second half of the season will be very interesting.

"There's no doubt in my mind that the crowd will be very important between now and the end of the season.

"Let's hope that they can turn that belief into genuine vocal support."

And he believes that the Conference has turned out to be a tougher division than League Two and thinks anyone who goes up is well placed to win promotion again.

Money added: "I think it's more a case of everybody understanding this is a really good league. In my opinion it's better than the one above.

"There are more clubs equipped to go through to League One than League Two.

"I think the quality is good. I thought Saturday's game was a real high quality game and we have had a number at home recently."
