Wignall triumphs at Clapham AC

Clapham AC's fifth match was held at the Magpie Lake, Landbeach, Cambridge.

One half of the lake fished more consistantly than the other with most weights ranging between 30lb and 50lb-plus.

Top weights came from winning angler Bryn Wignall, 53lb 3oz from peg five, Jason Ruff, 43lb 11oz frm peg 27, Dan Kelly, 42lb 13oz from peg 24, and Barry Smith, 42lb 5oz from peg 30.

The accumalative weight for all 17 anglers was 354lb 4oz.

Top three pairs were Bryn Wignall and Dan Kelly with 96lb, Jason Ruff and Paul Kyle with 84lb 14oz and Barry Smith and Ricky Millward with 51lb 4oz.

The top four anglers in League One are Bryn Wignall on 92 points, Warren Owen with 76 points, Barry Smith on 74 points and Steve Carter with 70 points.

League Two is led by Jason Ruff on 89 points, followed by Dan Kelly on 87 points, Jacky Owen with 76 points and Andy Thomas on 65 points.

The semi-finals of the Knockout Cup saw Wignall win against Warren Owen and Barry Smith defeat Mark Wilson.

Queens Works AC fished their fourth Summer League match at Willington River on Sunday.

All 13 anglers caught fish as at last some decent roach began to show.

Richard Newman fished chopped worm at peg 54 and caught two chub and a decent perch for a winning weight of 6lb 6oz.

Mick Lapworth had perch, dace and chub on peg 56 and took second place with 5lb 15oz.

On peg 60, Ray Gains was third with a nice mixed bag of small fish for 4lb 4oz.

Section winners were Frank Barratt, 3lb 10oz, and Paul Stokes, 3lb 7oz.

At the halfway mark Stokes tops the Summer League table with 92 points, five points ahead of Newman.
