A series of substitutions changed the course of the game as Luton threw away victory in the last ten minutes of Friday's clash at Prenton Park.
Strikes from substitutes Craig Curran (83) and Antony Kay (86) saw Rovers snatch an undeserved victory after the Hatters had bossed large chunks of the game.
It had looked like Paul Furlong's sixth-minute header would be enough, but the home side's late rally broke the hearts if Luton's travelling fans.
