USL lose to Lions

USL Red Star ended their pre-season preparations with a 2-1 defeat to Leighton & District Division One side Dunstable Lions.
Both teams were missing key players and struggled for fluidity.
Lions took the lead when a cross was steered past Dean Garlick by Reds defender Paul Monks.
Red Star equalised thanks to a solo effort from makeshift striker Dean Ashton. He beat Jonny Butler before firing in from a tight angle.
The second half saw either team waste good chances and both keepers make some great saves. However, Lions won when former Red Star striker Ben Jefcoate pounced on a defensive lapse to tuck the ball home.
