Triathlon triumph for Mr Palmer

editorial image

A biology teacher lined up against Olympic athletes last month, when he got his running shoes, swimming trunks and bicycle ready for the Virgin Active London Triathlon.

Charlie Palmer, who teaches at Bedford School and is in charge of the school’s triathlon team, finished 34th in the race. He was invited to take on the 1,500 metre swim, 40 kilometre bike ride and 10 kilometre run in and around London’s ExCel centre after his success at the National Championships last summer.

He said: “It was a tremendous privilege to compete against such incredible professional athletes. I would like to give a huge thanks to local bike company, Transitions Cycles, who have given me such great support, as well as to colleagues and the boys at the School.

“Triathlon is an event that is proving increasingly popular, as it is here at Bedford School, especially amongst the Juniors.”
