High-flying Lidlington CC maintained their unbeaten run and continue to lead Division 6 following a winning draw against Newport Pagnell II.

After Lidlington won the toss and elected to bat, Steve Swann (39) helped push the score on to 128 for five.

However, a number of poor shots by the Lidlington tailenders saw them fall to a disappointing 141 all out, with David Manyweathers (24) holding the fort against some attacking bowling from Mick Broad (4-7).

Needing just three runs per over to claim victory, Newport lost early wickets.

There was some tight bowling from Mike Eames with two wickets for 14 in nine overs, Jake Hiscocks with three for 22 in 10 overs and Hamyun Shahid with two for 19 in seven overs.

Captain Gary Hefferon gave Newport some hope of victory with a steady knock of 40, but once he had been dismissed, the tailenders could only manage to hold out with some stubborn batting for a draw.
