Supporters swamp Kenilworth Road
Fans flock to open day
Kenilworth Road was inundated with fans on Saturday as the Hatters flung open their doors for a family open day.
Over 1,000 supporters turned up for the occasion, which went better than the club could ever have expected.
Director Antony Brown said: "It went brilliantly. There were over a thousand people here. It was really good. It couldn't have gone any better.
"It was based around a fun day for the children and families and on that basis it was a huge success. We certainly didn't expect there to be as many as that so we were delighted."
Fans got to see manager Mick Harford take a session on the pitch, and they also enjoyed a wide range of activities.
Harford, Kevin Nicholls, Tom Craddock and Andy Burgess were interviewed by supporters on a range of topics, Shane Blackett and Liam Hatch posed for a drawing competition and throughout the day the rest of the squad mingled with the crowds, signing autographs and posing for photographs.
Organiser and commercial manager David Hoskins was delighted with the day, saying: "First and foremost I'd like to thank every supporter who came along to the event who made the event such a great success.
"The smiles on the faces of our young fans when they came face-to-face with their favourite players was brilliant.
"The players were magnificent and I thank them all and Mick for their time – I'm sure the fans will echo those thoughts."
Winners of the drawing competition were five-year-old Jacob Blackwood, who drew Jake Howells, 10-year-old Charlie Berry who sketched Mick Harford and Amy Hall, who is four, who opted for Tom Craddock, while the winner of the spot-the-ball competition was Avril Johnston.
