KAYAKING: Quicksilver team-mates Tim Baillie and Etienne Stott put in a storming run but picked up a two-second penalty on the last upstream to leave them in fourth place and less than half a second off the podium in the final of the C2M at World Cup 1 in Cardiff on Sunday. The wind finally died down for last day of competition as Viking Kayak Club’s Stott and his partner again impressed, while Great Britain team-mates David Florence and Richard Hounslow claimed gold.

Baillie said: “We can’t be too sad with our own performance we did 99 per cent of a great run, with some parts much better than our semi-final run.

“Coming into the last ‘up’ we approached a really changeable section of water and we could see it was building up and we hit it wrong and it cost us a two and the win.”
