Ryan looks to Thai up title
MBTC-30-01-12-Thai boxer Ryan Nandha. Eagles Thai Gym, Bedford Football Club, McMullen Park, Meadow Lane, Bedford.
EAGLES Gym fighter Ryan Nandha will challenge for the vacant WBC British Thai boxing super bantamweight belt at the Medway Park Leisure Centre on Sunday, writes Mike Simmonds.
The teenager is fighting Anjum Shah at the prestigious event which is being attended by the Ambassador of Thailand and the Thai consulate.
Whoever wins will be ranked on the WBC website, which is the biggest boxing organisation in the world, and will eventually earn a shot at the world title in Thailand in 12 months time.
Trainer Nigel Howlett said: “Ryan Nandha wants to be the first person in the world to win WBC world titles in both Thai Boxing and professional boxing.
“Training is going well for the fight and Ryan isn’t nervous, although I am!
“He fought Shah early last year and won a close fight, so I’m expecting another tough bout on the night.
“We have some good support going with us from Bedford though with over 100 attending, so it should be a great event.”
