Bedford Blues but they are looking to bounce back from two Championship defeats in a row as they travel to Doncaster on Friday evening.

Having tasted defeat for the first time against Bristol a fortnight ago and then pushing table toppers Newcastle all the way last weekend, Bedford know that they will need to be at their best to take anything out of Friday’s encounter.

Trips to Castle Park are never eas.y Doncaster proved last season that they were no pushovers as they defeated the Blues on their home turf and then held Bedford to a draw at Goldington Road.

Bedford travel to Doncaster without captain and top points scorer James Pritchard who is away on international duty with Canada as well as Ben Ransom and Luke Baldwin who are with Saracens this week.

Ollie Dodge is ruled out for several weeks with ligament damage, Chris Locke misses out due to a knee injury and James Stephenson is still missing with a minor toe problem.

Looking ahead to the Friday night clash, Blues coach Matt Volland said: “We aren’t taking anything for granted with Doncaster. Their current position in the Championship is not a reflection on the squad that they have or the style of rugby that they play and I’m sure that they will pinpoint Friday’s game as one where they will desperately want to pick up some valuable league points.

“We’ve had two very tough games and the lads are all disappointed not to have taken anything from those fixtures. The game against Newcastle was physically demanding and with a short turnaround we have made the decision to freshen up the side accordingly.”
