Bedford kick off their Championship home campaign against Moseley this weekend, with head coach Mike Rayer looking for back-to-back wins.

The Blues chief saw his side earn a superb 29-23 victory at Bristol on Sunday and on the challenge ahead, Rayer said: “We’ve had a terrific pre-season which definitely played a part in our victory over Bristol last Sunday and we are focused on carrying on this winning momentum in front of our home fans.

“We’ve been up against some really strong teams in the past few weeks and our job wasn’t made any easier that we’ve been on the road for the past three fixtures.

“Moseley are a very strong side though and Kevin Maggs has done a fantastic job.”

Moseley are set to visit Goldington Road this Saturday afternoon on the back of an impressive 23-19 win over London Scottish and Rayer confirmed he would tinker with his side.

He added: “We’ve managed to pick up a few injuries in the Bristol game and we will be anticipating a few switches in a few areas of the squad.

“It was always going to happen, it would be impossible to name the same squad every week due to the intensity of the past few fixtures and it’s always nice to mix and match this early in the season.”

Back rowers Justin Blanchet (wrist) and Josh Buggea are set to miss out for Blues, but captain Nick Fenton-Wells and Harry Wells should both be available.
