Bedford Swifts hosted rivals Bedford Queens in Midlands Four East South on Saturday with the visitors running out 21-8 winners.

It was a dominant first-half display which did the damage for Queens, with all their points coming in the first 40 minutes.

Tries from Will Simpson (7), man-of-the-match Chris Faalau (17) and Jon Wells just before half-time, plus David Morrish’s three conversions put them in a position of superiority.

The win for Queens extends their recent fine form and they are now unbeaten in eight straight games, their last defeat dating all the way back to December 10.

For Swifts, it was their fourth loss in their last six outings.

The decisive Queens victory means they are still safely holding on to the second position, just two points behind leaders Sileby Town, who have played a game less.

Swifts, on the other hand, are now rooted to the bottom of the table, although just one point off seventh.

This weekend, Queens host Bourne and Swifts travel to Sileby Town.
