Bedford Blues will be looking to continue their good form as they head across the English Channel on Saturday to face Jersey at St Peter’s.

The Blues have won three out of five in the Greene King IPA Championship with the latest victory being against Nottingham at Goldington Road last weekend which saw an outstanding defence display going a long way to securing the points.

Games between Jersey and Bedford are always hard fought affairs but St Peter’s is a ground that the players enjoy playing on and the fans love visiting.

Looking ahead to the game, Blues forwards coach Martin Hynes said: “The lads put in one hell of a shift against Nottingham last weekend and we were delighted with the defensive performance that every player put in.

“It was a real statement from us and has given the squad a real boost as they prepare to travel to Jersey.

“Heading to Jersey is always a tough ask for any team and we know only too well just how attritional games are against them. We are hoping to use the ball a bit more wisely this week so we don’t end up having to make another 180 tackles!.”

Bedford make minor changes to the team which defeated Nottingham with Michael Le Bourgeois and Harry Wells returning from injury while Dean Adamson also comes into the starting line-up. Hooker Nathan Vella makes his first start for the club since joining last month and Myles Dorrian starts at fly half.
