Bedford Blues return to Championship action this weekend with the customary trip to Penzance as they face the Cornish Pirates on Sunday afternoon.

Games between the clubs are always hotly contested and league position will mean nothing when the two go head-to-head at the Mennaye Field.

Looking ahead to the game, Blues forwards coach Martin Hynes said: “The Pirates may be at the foot of the table however the lads are only too aware that a wounded animal is a dangerous animal and we will have to be at our best at a notoriously difficult ground to take something from this game.

“Two wins on the bounce from their B&I Cup will have restored some confidence for them so the challenge is for us is a significant one.”

The Blues make a number of changes from the team which defeated Ulster A last weekend, with Pat Tapley, Tom Griffiths and George Perkins all starting in the backs while Phil Boulton, Mark Flanagan and Nick Fenton-Wells all return to the pack.
