Bedford Blues host their first home game of the Greene King IPA Championship season with the visit of Rotherham Titans to Goldington Road on Saturday afternoon.
The Blues left Nottingham disappointed and empty handed following an opening weekend defeat loss last Friday but Mike Rayer’s men are looking to bounce back immediately against the Titans who suffered defeat to London Scottish in Round One.
Looking ahead to Saturday’s game, Blues skipper Nick Fenton-Wells said: “The lads have put in a lot of effort this week and are determined to put in a big performance in from of the Goldington Road crowd on our first home game of the season.
“We were pretty deflated after the loss last weekend and we know that we need to put things right as quickly as possible and get that win in the bag.”
Bedford have made a handful of changes with Steffan Jones getting his first competitive start at fly half while Henry Staff and Pat Tapley begin on the wings in place of Nathan Earle, who suffered a nasty Achilles injury against Nottingham, and Jim Wigglesworth.
In the pack, dual registered back-rower Hayden Thompson-Stringer starts at six while Josh Buggea gets the nod at 7.
