Bedford Blues hooker Charlie Clare will be moving on from Goldington Road to join Premiership side Northampton Saints.

Clare arrived at Bedford following four years in the Leicester Academy which incorporated loan moves to Loughborough Students, Nottingham and Jersey.

The youngster quickly established himself in the front row and has impressed throughout his time with the Blues.

Blues director of rugby Mike Rayer said: “I’m really pleased for Charlie who is heading along the A428 to Northampton for next season.

“Charlie has developed a lot over the past two seasons which is testament to the work put in by Martin Hynes and the other coaches at the club.

“I’m sure that Charlie will seize his opportunity and give Jim Mallinder and co plenty to think about at Franklin’s Gardens.”
