Ampthill RFC have continued their squad strengthening for the new National One season with the additions of Sam Hanks from Cinderford and Coventry’s Loti Molitika.
Hanks, 21, a centre, has been capped for England Counties at U20s level, while he was a member of Newcastle Falcons academy, where he spent time as a dual registration player for Blaydon in National One.
He then joined Cinderford where he made 74 appearances scoring 19 tries, and on his move to Ampthill, Hanks said: “I am looking forward to meeting my team-mates at Ampthill and working with Paul Turner and the coaching team, both to develop as a player and to help achieve the club’s ambitions and goals.”
Meanwhile, back rower Molitika, who was at Coventry previously, making 11 appearances in National One, scoring two tries, joins brother Maama at Ampthill.
The 28-year-old has been capped by Tonga in the 2008 Junior World Cup, while also has National Two experience with Chinnor and Clifton & Broadstreet.
He said: “I am really happy to join Ampthill, a club which comes highly recommended for both ambition and community values.
“I look forward to working with the coaching team, improving as a player, while contributing in any way I can.”
Head coach Paul Turner added: “I am delighted to welcome Sam and Loti to Ampthill.
“Sam offers proven try scoring prowess in midfield while Loti will add to our back row options with his physicality and ball carrying.”
