Wixams hosted their first annual Touch Rugby Tournament, with teams coming from far and wide to join in with the fun.

Joining Wixams Warriors at the mixed gender competition were YM Cobra from Ipswich, Coys from Northampton, Midlands U18, Midlands O35, and Vets&Jets from Bedford.

Captained by Hannah Marshall, Wixams started strongly against YM Cobra with a 7-4 victory.

Next up was Vets&Jets who recently came second in the Bedford Elite League, with Wixams eventually losing out 3-2 in a close contest.

Wixams bounced back with a 6-4 victory against recently-crowned national champions Midlands U18, but they were beaten 7-2 by a very experienced Midlands O35 team.

Wixams then took on eventual champions Coys, who ran out 8-2 victors which kept them unbeaten during the tournament and secured them the trophy. Runners-up were Midland O35, with Vets&Jets coming third.

Wixams came a creditable fourth, followed by YM Cobra and Midlands U18.

Wixams have been running for just over a year and are the biggest Touch Rugby team in Bedfordshire, welcoming players aged 14+ of mixed ability. They train every Tuesday at the Wixams 3G pitch from 8pm to 9.30pm. Email info@wixamstouchrugby.co.uk for further information.
