LONDON Welsh centre Hudson Tonga’uiha felt it was a crucial advantage to have won the Championship semi-final first left 13-3 at Bedford.

Tonga’uiha scored the game’s only try at Goldington Road and said: “It was a very important try, but it was a team effort. It was a fantastic win especially away at Bedford as it’s always tough.

“The conditions weren’t great, but credit to the boys - we stay firmed and stuck to our game plan. In play-offs like that it’s all about taking your points.”

“It would be a massive achievement to reach the final this year, the same as it would be for my team-mates, but our focus is Bedford this Sunday.”
