S&C toasted by Towcester IIIs

Rugby: Sharnbrook & Colworth lost 45-19 at home to Towcester IIIs as the visitors won the battle to go second in the East Midlands Courage Merit League.

A tight first half finished with Denver Bennett running into the corner from the halfway line for an unconverted try after working his magic to pass two tackling players, but the hosts still trailed by two points at the break.

Towcester started the second half quicker and scored three unanswered tries.

But the move of the match saw coach Jim Wingfield, who ended the game playing on the wing, pick the ball off the bottom or a ruck and stroll through to score.

Corcenza Fondza also touched down for S&C with Ed Strand and Barry Stuart kicking one conversion each.
